“Countdown to Christmas” is the theme of the Almond Historical Society’s annual open house and Christmas musical program to be held on Sunday afternoon,December 7, 2015, from 1 to 4:30 pm.
The 1830s Hagadorn House, located at the corner of Karrdale Avenue and Main Street (at the red light) is currently being decorated by Mary Ellen Westlake, Susan Steere, Cindy Banker, and Helen Spencer in the advent theme. Those who have attended this annual event will remember the exquisite decorations from past years. Traditionally, the parlor Christmas tree, donated by Kim Costello, will feature homemade ornaments.
In conjunction with the AHS celebration, a program of Christmas music will be held next door at Almond Union of Churches at 2 pm. Included on the program will be the Alfred Almond Bible Church 21-voice men’s choir under the direction of Janice Phelps singing “Run to the Manger”. Also from AABC will be a ladies trio comprised of Sola Prince, Laurie Graziano, and Corinn Fehr. Dan Stiller will present a vocal solo, accompanied by his daughter, Bethany, who will also play a piano solo. The Stiller children will be dancing in the group, One Pulse, directed and choreographed by Andrea Wilkinson. Sandy Dygert will offer a vocal solo, Dave Burns and his family musical ensemble will perform, and Tom and Sue Steere plan to sing a vocal duet. The YMCA fiddle group will round out the musical program.
Please join us and enjoy the beautiful Christmas decorations and musical program. Refreshments including wassail made by Kitty Baker, and Mary Jane Reid’s famous Christmas cookies will be served during the afternoon at Hagadorn House.
